Good/ Bad Photography

What makes a good photo?

It is not about the subject matter.

It is about the COMPOSITIONAL layout. ANYTHING can be an interesting subject matter.

A viewers eye path is very important. Your viewer will first be attracted to the brightest subject in your image, once they have found the image you want their eye to travel around the photograph, but not out of the frame.

Lighting can also make or break a photo.    

Objective: you and a partner will travel around Vermilion high school and take photos of all elements and principles of design. Make sure you are conscience of what makes a good photo and try 

Element and Principles of Design

Just because you have a graphic design computer program on your computer does not mean you are a graphic designer. You first need to understand the principles and elements of design in order to create something pleasing to the eye. 
Please get out your handout from yesterday as we watch the video on discovering which elements and principles are used being used.

Along with the Elements and Principles of design you as graphic designers need to be able to pick out a good photo from a bad photo and also need to be able to capture a good photo.  Below are examples of both good and bad photos. 
Lets talk about what we see.

Welcome Graphic Designers

This is your class blog site. I will be posting assignments and Photoshop tutorials on here so make sure you check it frequently. Not only will we be working on the yearbook but we will be fundraising and exploring the world of graphic design and Photoshop. This is a fun class, but you must manage your time with projects or you can get very overwhelmed.

finishing up the year

Since most of you are seniors and your last day will be May 30th I would like ALL OF YOU to have your 2 yearbook pages done and ready to submit to Jostens. I need to approve your page before we submit it so please show me. Also please still sign out cameras for these last few school events.

Today you all need to find what two pages you are working on in yearbookave.com and come up and give me both page numbers. Your second page layout MUST be discussed with me unless you are doing another sport, then you should use the same background and layout as we did before.

Hope you all had a great BREAK, now to SPRING back to action!

As we are all hard at work creating this years yearbook I thought it would be fun to take a little break and create something kind of fun. I want us all to create two complete scenes of a comic book. It can be a comic that already exists or you can create your own characters and plot.

Requirements:
*You MUST CREATE everything in you cartoon/ comic ( nothing is copyed and pasted)
*You must have a main subject and at least 3 other object props in both scene
*looking for interesting composition
*nicely colored/ painted
*must have text
* background with detail

"Word to the wise" - this is a time consuming project so please use your time wisely. It is suppose to be challenging !
